Your vehicle may be a safe zone for you in case of an u 00004000 nfortunate incident but it could also be a trap. In case of an emergency on the road, you should be able to make the necessary actions to ensure your safety and those of your passengers. Here are the necessary items that should make up your vehicle survival kit - must-haves during summer:

First Aid kit
A first aid kit is a real must-have for all vehicles. It contains just about everything you need to protect yourself from cuts, scrapes and possible infection. It also contains small equipment that can come in handy in case you need to cut anything (scissors) or signal for help (mirror).

If you're traveling any time soon, check your vehicle first aid kit to see if it's complete. Stash extra prescription medication here for easy access.

Jumper cables and tow strap
You'll need these cables in case your vehicle's battery conks out or if your car needs to get towed.

Flashlight and strobe lights
In case your vehicle gets stalled or stuck or if you get lost, you'll need a flashlight to find your way around, particularly after dark. Strobe lights or flares will also come in handy for signaling.

Spare batteries for all electronic devices or a charger
You should have fully-charged batteries for devices such as cell phones, flashlights, strobe flares and other self-defense gadgets. This will ensure that you will be able to use them immediately when and if you need to.

Safety Vest
A safety vest will help protect you against the elements and make you visible at the same time. Safety vests are designed with reflective coating, usually running horizontally or crosswise on the back. The vest will reflect any light from a distance, making you easier to find.

Fire extinguisher
Your vehicle should have a compact fire extinguisher on board, particularly during long rides. You can easily and safely put out a fire with this.

Cooling pads or ice packs
During summer, even with airconditioning, the interior of your vehicle could gradually rise in temperature. Avoid the risk of suffering from a heat stroke and keep yourself cool, particularly during long rides. As part of your vehicle survival kit, throw in a couple of cooling pads or ice packs. This will help bring down your temperature and prevent heat-related headaches and nausea.

Extra water
Always bring a bottle of water with you in your vehicle, especially during summer. This will keep you hydrated and help prevent heat stroke and fatigue.

Extra money
Yup, in many vehicle-related emergencies, summer or winter, having cash available when you need it helps.

   Does Texas Castle Doctrine protect possession of “illegal knives” if kept inside the vehicle?
   Knives over 5 1/2 inches and Bowie knives are considered illegal if carried “on or about” a person. I have a farm that I travel to where I use large knives, as well as hiking, hunting, and camping. I also keep an emergency survival kit in my vehicle, which contains a large survival knife. Could this be held against me if I were ever stopped and searched?

   Must have – cover page
   table of contents
   at least 16 pages
   Mus talk about –
   oil: types, meaning of numbers, etc.
   Gas: octane rating, costs to produce
   tires: numbers, sizes, quality of tires, criteria to look for when buying
   List the procedures for doing the following:
   changing a tire
   changing oil
   vehicle maintenence: general
   winter driving
   Winter survival kits

   car survival kit, in case of emergency?
   my fiance and i are putting together survival kits! we want to put a kit in each one of our vehicles.
   this pack needs to be light weight and portable in the event we have to ditch our cars! and its going to need to have appropriate supplies to get us home and im going to say at least enough supplies to last 72 hours outside of the home.
   could you list some suggestions? thanks.

   It is a great idea to think, plan and prepare for the possibility of a disaster. No matter where you live there is the potential for something to happen and experts recommend that everyone have a survival kit with 3 days (72 hours) of supplies since that is the maximum amount of time that someone would most likely be without help or services and need to be able to take care of themselves. There are lots of ready made kits that you can add personal items to like eyeglasses, prescriptions, spare shoes, extra clothing, etc. or you can buy a backpack and put together the whole thing yourself. I’ve included a link with resources and more information.

   Could be, your vehicle (in this section) isn’t considered your premises. The idea is that you can keep it where you live. If you do not live in your vehicle then you can not carry it. Some may disagree but all it takes is one cop to believe otherwise and you now have to prove your innocence (it’s not innocent till govern guilty anymore). Keep them out of reach or in the trunk/bed/tool box. As long as they are not be accessed by where you are sitting.
   If you are asked by a peace officer if he can search always say no. And do not believe what he tells you after that. Since you can not use force on him to stop him from an illegal search it will be much easier to defeat in court.
   If he needs to ask then he can not legally search. If he can legally search he will not ask he will just search.

   Sec. 46.02. UNLAWFUL CARRYING WEAPONS
   (a-2) For purposes of this section, “premises” includes real property and a recreational vehicle that is being used as living quarters, regardless of whether that use is temporary or permanent. In this subsection, “recreational vehicle” means a motor vehicle primarily designed as temporary living quarters or a vehicle that contains temporary living quarters and is designed to be towed by a motor vehicle. The term includes a travel trailer, camping trailer, truck camper, motor home, and horse trailer with living quarters.

   What would you carry for a zombie survival kit?
   What weapons, food supplies, and vehicle would you use. Please be realistic, odds are you won’t be shooting an M60 out of a monster truck. I’ve always been intrigued by the idea, and I want to know what you would carry.

   I don’t…I know I should just in case…but the last time I was involved in an awful accident…my car was totally destroyed to the point that we couldn’t find any of my stuff I had in there… so much for the first-aid kit.
