1/2 orange

1oz turkey breast

6 peanuts

3oz firm tofu

1 1/2 cup broccoli and green peppers

1/2 chicken breast

1 peach

3 olives

1/4 cup cottage cheese /With Salsa

2oz turkey breast

1/2 cup grapes

1/2 tbsp guacamole wrapped in turkey

2 oz tofu mixed in with

1/2 a potato

2 oz turkey sliced

2 hard boiled eggs (only 1 yolk)

1/2 fitness focus chicken wrap

beef wrap or breakfast burrit

Costco Tuna Snack Kit

1/2 cup cottage cheese

1/2 cup of raw vegetables

2 chicken breast slices

1/2 an apple

3/4 cup of homemade chili

1/2 cup lean ground beef mixed up with boiled potatoes and mixed vegetables

2 strips turkey bacon

1/2 cup strawberries

3 almonds

4 egg whites

1 piece of whole grain dry toast

1 /2 glass orange juice

4 1/2 oz seafood (shrimp crab lobster)

1/3 cup of rice (wild or white)

1/2 an apple

3 oz of cooked chicken (sliced)

1/2 cup of rice (white or wild)

3 pieces of broccoli

4 oz of fish fillet of your choice

1 cup cooked asparagus

1/2 cup potato or rice

4 oz chicken breast

1 cup vermicelli noodles

Light dressing with peanut oil

PROTEIN SHAKES

DO NOT MAKE A GOOD BETWEEN MEAL SNACK AS THEY DIGEST TOO FAST.

   What is the best emergency food manufacturer?
   I have been preparing an emergency home survival kit. I want to look into some food storage options. I’m not looking for a pallet, but maybe just a few months worth.

   I’ve been looking at several manufacturers, and even got a sample from Wise Foods, Inc. (www.wisefoodstorage.com) There are huge differences in costs from a places like Costco and Wise Foods, Inc.

   Does anyone have any experience with emergency food storage manufacturers? Who is the best?

   What type of equipment/items/supplies do you need in case of a Hurricane Katrina/Earthquake/Zombie Apocalypse?
   This might seem childish, but please bear with me. I live in Southern California and I have a huge concern with a mega devastation hitting here in the future. With that being said, my friends and I had debated and questioned what items we would need to survive for a week. You know, have some type of duffel bag or “emergency kit” to grab and go in case our house is literally torn into pieces or if we’re required to abandoned our living quarters. The following items we came up with were…

   Guns (preferably revolvers), ammunition, emergency water pouches, survival knife, mag lite (flashlight), emergency blanket, MRE’s, granola bars, boots, emergency fire starter, first aid kit, and medical supplies.

   Anything else that we’re missing? We did not include canned food because their shelf life is very short and carries too much weight. Also, where do you recommend to purchase most of the supplies aside from the guns? Wal Mart? Surplus Stores? Costco? Amazon?

   Most commercial survival kits are meant to keep you alive for 72 hours or so. There are some very nice prepackaged survival kits on the market these days. They typically divide their contents into 6 or 7 categories: Food & Water, Shelter, Light & Communications, First Aid, Sanitation, Search and Resue and Packaging. It looks like you have added a “Defense” category.

   Here is an example of what’s in a typical 4 person- 3 day disaster survival kit:
   FOOD & WATER
   (4) ER™ Food Bars
   (12) ER™ Water Boxes w/ Straws
   (50) ER™ Water Purification Tablets
   SHELTER
   (4) ER™ Emergency Blankets
   (4) ER™ Ponchos With Hood
   LIGHTING & COMMUNICATION

   (1) ER™ Green Lightstick
   FIRST AID
   (1) Medium Sized First Aid Kit
   SEARCH & RESCUE
   (1) Safety Whistle
   (4) Dust Masks
   (1) Pair Vinyl Gloves

   (1) Snap-on Toilet Seat (optional)
   (4) Tissue Packs
   PACKAGING
   (1) ER™ 5 Gallon Bucket Container

   The food and water in these kits is just enough to survive – you are not going to feel like you just left McDonalds so I would pack more food and water. After reading many survival type websites, another recurring idea is to have lots of cash on hand. This seems to be the first thing to run-out during a disaster.

   Doug Ritter at Equipped to Survive has listed a number of basic survival kits to prepare for many situations, but they also list the Primary Disaster Preparedness Kit. The link below takes you to that kit. It’s a long list of items to have with extra items to add for infants or pets.

   I’m not sure of the name of the manuacturer but MRE’s (Meal Ready to Eat) used by the US military are the best choice. They are available on the web and eBay and will last without refrigeration for 3 years.
